Summer in the Smoky Mountains Tennessee

Celebrate Summer in the Smoky Mountains

Families come from all over to enjoy their summer vacation in the Smokies. The Smoky Mountains Tennessee are beautiful all year round. During the summer, the flowers are in full bloom, the trees are a vibrant green and the wildlife come out to play. There are numerous photo opportunities along the park’s scenic routes. Most days the weather is warm and sunny with clear blue skies as far as the eye can see. Even when it does rain, it doesn’t tend to last very long.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers a variety of activities throughout the year including over 800 miles of trails for hiking, exploration and plenty of sightseeing. There are easier treks for the more novice hikers such as the Gatlinburg trail and Clingman’s Dome and there are also a variety of more strenuous hikes for the more thrill seekers.

Cades Cove is one of the most visited areas in the Great Smoky Mountains Nation Park. It is indeed one of the most beautiful areas in the Park. There are old home sites, open fields and beautiful mountains as far as you can see. If you are feeling adventurous, The Smoky Mountains has many different whitewater rafting adventures. Whether you are looking for an easy day floating in the water or a more rigorous day conquering the rapids, try a whitewater rafting trip.

As you drive through Pigeon Forge, you won’t miss the towering observation wheel at the Island in Pigeon Forge. The modern-day Ferris wheel is a staggering 200 feet tall. Sit back, relax and enjoy the aerial views of the surrounding mountains and the most visited National Park in the country.

Take advantage of the free trolley rides through Gatlinburg, traveling across the city to the Arts & Crafts community, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Ski Mountain and more!

If you enjoy baseball, cheer on the many talented athletes at Smokies Stadium in Kodak, just outside Sevierville, which hosts the Smokies – a Cubs affiliate. Plan your trip to see one of their spectacular firework shows.

Dollywood family amusement park is one of the top destinations in Tennessee. It’s nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Dollywood’s Splash Country has thrilling water slides, a wave pool, lazy river and more!

The Smoky Mountains are a worthy getaway any time of year and one that is sure to be affordable. There are many unique cabins, cozy Bed & Breakfasts, roomy condos and campgrounds to meet any of your needs and budget.

Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville all offer unique Smoky Mountain attractions that will quickly become family favorites. Be sure to bring your camera during your trip this summer to capture all your family’s vacation adventures and memories.
