Horses, History, Hospitality…and so Much More

Nestled in the heart of Kentucky’s famous Bluegrass region, Bourbon County was one of nine counties that made up the Commonwealth when it became a state in 1792. Its very name evokes visions of thoroughbred horses grazing in lush green pastures bordered by age-old stone fences and beautiful rolling countryside. In fact, more than 50 horse farms are in the county, including world-famous Claiborne Farm, where Secretariat stood at stud for many years and was laid to rest.

However, we are not just a one-trick pony. Our region offers a variety of historic sites and attractions that all visitors will enjoy. From delicious dining and charming shops in downtown Paris to our origin of bourbon stories, we have a lot to show and tell.
