And A Lifelong Connection To The Amish Community
Lehman’s was founded by Jay Lehman (1929 – 2020) to serve the local Amish community here in northeast Ohio. Jay greatly admired the Amish and their agrarian way of life and knowledge of practical, hands-on skills. The Amish, as you might know, live without electricity, and are rooted in faith, tradition and family. Jay knew that without the products to sustain their connection to the land their traditions would be hard to maintain. After all, if no one is selling butter churns, then no one knows how to churn butter, right?
The year was 1955 and Jay was the only employee when Lehman’s opened. He had borrowed money from his father, Ezra, to purchase what was then known as the AB Sommers Hardware, built around 1919 in the center of town. AB had also sold to [...]

The store has most of the camping supplies you might need for your trip into Hocking Hills including firewood at the area’s lowest prices, bait and a propane exchange. Grandma Faye’s serves the locals as well as the hungry hikers on a daily basis. While visiting the area, it’s the perfect place to stop to eat and shop. We offer delicious sandwiches and homemade pizza, deli items, daily lunch specials, fresh cut steaks, fresh ground chuck, homemade fudge, hand-dipped ice cream and shakes.
