Brookgreen Gardens Murrells Inlet, SC

Brookgreen Gardens South Carolina encompasses more than 9,000 acres in South Carolina Lowcountry, located between Myrtle Beach and Pawleys Island. A National Historic Landmark, Brookgreen Gardens is a beautiful combination of nature, art and history. Brookgreen has been named one of the top ten botanical gardens in the United States.

Brookgreen Gardens four areas of focus are American Sculpture, Lowcountry History, Botanical Gardens, and the Lowcountry Zoo. The Huntington Sculpture Garden covers 35 acres and includes 2 indoor galleries and a visible storage and research center: all home to the finest collection of American figurative sculpture in the world. This extraordinary collection of over 2000 works of art, spans from the early 1800s to the present and includes works from many of the most notable American sculptors.

The property is rich with native plants, animals, evidence of rice plantations of the 1800s and the culture of the enslaved Africans who built and sustained the area. Walk the Lowcountry Trail with its archeological sites, then tour the Domestic Animals exhibit and the Lowcountry Zoo.

For Summer 2021, Brookgreen is proud to present Summer Light: Art by Night. The Gardens will be open from 7 – 10, Wednesdays – Saturdays from June 9 – August 21. This special ticketed event will include live music, docent-led tours of art, and lighted outdoor displays in the Gardens. Food will be available for purchase at Harvest Restaurant and Brookgreen beverage stations in the Gardens will offer snacks, wine, and soft drinks.
