Endless Mountains – Northeastern Pennsylvania

Discover the small-town charm and natural beauty of the Endless Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Located just west of Scranton, our peaceful, rural area is the perfect place to get away the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Escape into nature with countless hiking trails and hundreds of thousands of acres of public lands. Explore Vosburg Neck State Park, one of Pennsylvania’s newest parks featuring eight miles of hiking trails along the Susquehanna River. Ricketts Glen State Park is famous for its Falls Trail, which showcases 21 named waterfalls within one breathtaking hike. Meanwhile, Worlds End State Park and the surrounding Loyalsock State Forest boast expansive trails, scenic viewpoints, and pristine waterfalls.

For cyclists, the 430-mile Endless Mountains Gravel Bikepacking Loop will get you off the beaten path and onto our quiet country backroads. Or visit us in June for Grinduro, an annual cycling event that combines a gravel grinder with a mountain bike enduro. Sullivan County, Pennsylvania, is one of only five locations in the world to host this epic event.

The Susquehanna River North Branch, named Pennsylvania’s 2023 River of the Year, flows through the Endless Mountains. Take a kayaking trip for some of the best views. Susquehanna Kayak & Canoe Rentals and Endless Mountain Outfitters can provide boat rentals and shuttles.

After a day of adventures, kick back and relax at our wineries, breweries, and cideries. Many of them use ingredients grown right here in the Endless Mountains. Come for a tasting and stick around for the beautiful countryside views.

Between our stunning scenery and rich heritage, it’s no wonder the Endless Mountains have inspired a rich arts and culture scene. To experience it for yourself, head to the Wyoming County Cultural Center at the Dietrich Theater. Located in historic downtown Tunkhannock, this nonprofit movie theater shows more than just the latest blockbusters. They also host art classes, wellness workshops, and community events for all ages. Don’t miss their seasonal film festivals, which happen quarterly. Each festival features about 21 foreign and independent films over the course of three weeks. No need to go to a big-city art house where you can see all the award winners and nominees right here in the Endless Mountains.

The mountains are calling! The Endless Mountains are about three hours from New York City and Philadelphia—perfect for a weekend in the woods. Plan your getaway and request a free visitors guide at www.endlessmountains.org. You can also call 800-769-8999 for more information.
