Herkimer County, New York

With its feet in the Mohawk Valley and its head in Adirondack Mountains, Herkimer County is New York’s tallest county, offering great scenery and a variety of experiences for travelers. In Northern Herkimer County is Old Forge, spreading over 500 square miles of Adirondack mountains and lakes famous for outdoor family recreation. Old Forge is known as Paddling Capital of the Adirondacks and is popular as a mountain biking mecca. Also in Old Forge is Enchanted Forest Water Safari, New York’s largest water theme park, and VIEW Arts and Culture Center. The Adirondack Scenic Railroad offers excursion trains from Utica to Old Forge.
