More Wacky Laws for Your Fave Family Vacation Spot – Delaware

So you’re looking for the best family vacation spot for you and your hubby and kids. And you’ve heard over and over again that Delaware is the place to visit.

Guess what? You’ve been well-informed! Delaware may be small, but it’s been a huge vacation family destination for many generations. In fact, there are plenty of people who wouldn’t feel right if they didn’t head to the state at least once every year.

Still, like our previous post on Alabama, if you’re dead-set on Delaware, it behooves you to know about some of the more bizarre laws on the books. After all, you wouldn’t want your stay at any of the fine Delaware condominiums or Delaware resorts to be marred by a faux pas!

  • Does your Uncle Lester continuously dare people to get married? If so, perhaps it’s best to leave him at home if Delaware is your chosen family vacation destination. There, any couple getting married on a dare is considered grounds for annulment.
  • Do you long to fly over a body of water without any provisions? Then Delaware may not be the family vacation spot for you, as it’s illegal to fly over water without sufficient supplies of drink and food. (So load up on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and some Snapple or the beverage of your choice!)
  • Wanna see an “R” rated movie as part of your Delaware family vacation package? Don’t go to the drive-in movie theatre! They won’t show anything of that nature out in the open. (Actually, this is one of those bizarre laws that probably isn’t that crazy…)
  • If you’re planning to head to one of Delaware’s awesome beaches, make sure you’ve changed clothes back at your hotel room and not in your vehicle. Otherwise, you could be charged with disrobing in public.
  • Likewise, if you’re visiting Rehoboth Beach, taking off your swimwear under the boardwalk is a big no-no, as is changing in or out of a bathing suit in a public restroom. Another great reason to choose one of those fab Delaware resorts right on the beach!

Never fear… there are more wacky state laws coming next time, when the GuestQuest blog journeys to Florida.
