The incredible Outer Banks of North Carolina did not happen by chance! As English settlers, led by Sir Walter Raleigh, landed on the shores of the Outer Banks in 1584, they soon realized that they had arrived in the most beautiful place on Earth. Boasting an impressive history of shipwrecks off the coast, stories of pirates and plundering, civil war battles, and the birthplace of aviation, a unique culture and history of its own was created. It is understandable why people from all over the world continue to travel to this unique place year after year. As the need for a wholesome family retreat increased, Kitty Dunes Realty, an established realty company rose to the challenge and in 1971 Kitty Dunes Rentals was born. Kitty Dunes Rentals owes its success to an enterprising individual, George W. Neighbors. His innovative ideas and a true desire for families to enjoy the Outer Banks have helped his company grow to be one of the longest standing and most respected companies on the Outer Banks. George will long be remembered and Kitty Dunes will continue to be the standard of comparison in the years to come. His legacy lives on with his son John Neighbors, who continues to uphold his father’s vision.
