The National Museum of the United States Air Force
The museum’s galleries present military aviation history, boasting more than 360 aerospace vehicles and missiles on display along with thousands of historical items and powerful sensory exhibits that bring history to life and connect the Wright brothers’ legacy with today’s advanced technology. Experience exhibits up close and personal that include aircraft, engines, equipment and weapons of the USAF.
During the summer, the National Museum of the United States Air Force offers five summer day camps with aerospace themes.
Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park
Soak up the sun and see where aviation was born. The area consists of four units that tell the stories of Wilbur Wright, Orville Wright and Paul Laurence Dunbar. At the various units, you have the opportunity to experience the historically refurnished Wright brothers’ printing office, walk through an original Wright brothers’ bicycle shop, see the Wright brothers’ third airplane, follow Wilbur and Orville’s footsteps at the Huffman Prairie Flying Field, and experience Paul Laurence Dunbar’s last home.
From the founders of flight to the first American to orbit the Earth, Ohio has been at the forefront of aviation. So strap in and take off for a tour of this state’s rich aviation history.
