A visit to Putnam County, WV is a unique adventure, which transcends more than 150 years. Formed in 1848, the county was named after General Israel Putnam, a Revolutionary War hero. Much of the land was surveyed by George Washington. While the residents remain proud of the rich history, the county has been very progressive, with much to offer visitors.
