So Much To Do and See at Virginia Vacations and Tourist Attractions

If Virginia is for lovers, then it’s for lovers of all things fun. From quaint, relaxing mountain getaways to wild and noisy amusement parks, the Mother of States has something for everyone. Visitors can try fresh seafood from the Chesapeake Bay or head up the Blue Ridge Highlands to visit the “Birthplace of Country Music.” With all of these things to do in Virginia, what’s not to love?

People taking Interstate 95 into Virginia should make a run to the coast first. In Virginia Beach itself, there are places to stay for every budget, including campsites, hotels and beach house rentals. From your home-away-from-home, you can head out to take in all the natural and man-made wonders the area has in store.

If connecting with nature is your ideal Virginia vacation getaway, visit First Landing State Park, Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge or False Cape State Park to take advantage of the bike and hiking trails. Or, if you want a day at the beach, don’t pass up the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. This three-mile esplanade is lined with hotels and restaurants, museums and amusement rides. And of course, don’t forget the sand and waves of the Atlantic Ocean!

For those seeking a more secluded oceanfront getaway, Sandbridge Beach is for you. This little piece of salty paradise boasts five miles of gorgeous sand dunes and sea oats waving in the breeze. Stay in a local cottage or beach house and then watch sunrise from your kayak or at the ocean’s edge.

Think beach vacations are cliché? Then head west to find even more things to do in Virginia. Here the mountains and valleys rise and fall under thick foliage a wide variety of trees. Catch a glimpse of it all along the Blue Ridge Parkway, “America’s most scenic drive.” Cruising along the winding road, one can see waterfalls, wildlife and valleys full of spring flowers. Or drive along all 105 miles of Skyline Drive, a National Scenic Byway that meanders through Shenandoah National Park along the spine of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

After taking in the view, set up shop in one of Blue Ridge Highlands or Shenandoah Valley’s campsites, resorts or hotels. Get some rest and get ready to be amazed by one of America’s oldest VA tourist attractions, the Natural Bridge in Rockbridge County. Besides seeing the amazing rock formation, visitors can go hiking or learn more about the Native American history in the area.

Looking for something a little …deeper? Then drive just outside Luray to the Luray Caverns, the most popular caverns in the Eastern U.S. Naturally formed chambers with ten-foot-high ceilings showcase amazing formations, including a Stalacpipe Organ – an instrument made of stalactites. After you climb back out of the ground, visit the area’s museums, cultural exhibits or golf course.

Wherever you want to go, let GuestQuest help you plan your Virginia travels!
