Kentucky Vacations and Getaways

Do you long to break away from the daily grind and experience some of life’s simple pleasures? Bluegrass, barbecue and breathtaking natural vistas are just some of the Kentucky attractions you’ll find in this beautiful and historic state during your Kentucky vacations and getaways.

Whether you’re looking to head to the state’s more iconic locations or explore some of the off-the-beaten-path wonders, our Kentucky travel guide has a wealth of destinations waiting to be discovered.

Experience the Beauty and History of Kentucky with These Tourist Attractions and Vacation Spots

As far as Kentucky tourist attractions go, Mammoth Cave National Park is one of the state’s most popular. It also boasts the longest recorded cave system in the world. At more than 400 miles long, you can explore this unique natural formation by foot, bike or boat. The Baker Nature Preserve in Auburn is a rare opportunity to see rare and endangered species, as well as migrating birds. This habitat features trails that are open to the public, giving you the chance to experience wildlife you won’t see anywhere else.

For the history buff, Kentucky attractions have plenty to keep you captivated during your stay. As the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln and the site of many Civil War battles, Kentucky’s rich heritage is alive and well. Stop by Prestonburg, home to one of the largest and most significant battles of the Civil War in eastern Kentucky. The Middle Creek National Battlefield gives visitors the chance to stroll along the two distinct paths, and learn about the battle through informative panels. The Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Park in Hodgenville celebrates one of America’s most iconic figures. Built at the location of Lincoln’s birth, this monument to one of our greatest leaders is a must-see destination.

If you’re looking to spend time relaxing taking in the serene beauty during your Kentucky vacation, the Duncan Hines Scenic Byway is sure to please. This 82-mile route runs through Warren and Edmonson counties, and provides a stunning view of the area. You’ll be able to see a number historic homes, stately mansions and peaceful rural scenery as you drive this long and winding road.

But Kentucky attractions have more to offer than just history and natural splendor. The state is also home to a fun and adventurous nightlife. Lexington and other cities throughout the state offer plenty of hotspots to spend a night on the town. Want to have a wild night with your friends? Discover live music halls and dance the night away at some of the region’s hottest dance clubs. Looking to unwind in a more subdued atmosphere? Relax in one of the many piano and bourbon bars. And don’t forget to experience some of the best barbeque in the world at some of Kentucky’s local gems.
Fun, culture and beauty are only a stone’s throw away wherever you stay during your Kentucky vacation. With all there is to see and do, you’ll no doubt want to return to the Bluegrass State to take in all the sights again and again.
