Discover New York’s Amish Trail and Amish Craftsmanship

Well-known for their work ethic, Amish artisans are also famous for their products’ exceptional quality and craftsmanship. As you travel along the Amish Trail, you can expect to find colorful handmade quilts and rugs, detailed indoor and outdoor furniture, fun wooden toys, leather harnesses, as well as fresh baked goods, candies, jams and cheese. However, leave your debit and credit cards at home – they only accept cash. Shops are closed on Sundays, some Wednesdays, certain holidays, for barn raisings, weddings and funerals.

Please remember to respect their privacy and personal property, and don’t photograph them, as it is against their beliefs. As you tour the enchanted countryside, drive cautiously and watch for black, slow-moving, horse-drawn buggies.

Allegany County, New York

A visit to Allegany County, NY is like a walk through American history. The county is located in the Southern Tier of New York State, with its center approximately 90 miles due south of Rochester. Gradually, white men began to explore this area and began to settle here. In 1782 Moses Van Campen, a frontiersman and scout for American Revolutionary forces, was captured by the Seneca’s and forced to run the gantlet in Caneadea. He [...]

It may sound like an impossible dream, but you absolutely can have the best family vacation getaway of your life even if you’re bringing a brood of energetic youngsters with you.

Whether you’re heading to a South Carolina resort or taking a journey to Paris, France, you have the power to make your trip fantastic regardless of number of kids in your group.

What’s the secret?
It’s quite simple: Have reasonable travel objectives.

Often, the biggest problem isn’t that your children are behaving like tots (e.g., crying at inopportune moments, pitching fits at airports, requesting potty breaks every 20 minutes.)
